Specialised PET/CT Facility South Africa

AMBS delivered a specialised modular PET/CT facility for an academic hospital in Pretoria, providing a turnkey solution encompassing design and engineering, manufacture, transport, civil works, installation and commissioning. The project required the modular building system, specialist radiation shielding and integrated building services to be developed around the technical and operational requirements of a nuclear medicine environment.

The project required a purpose designed facility capable of accommodating specialised PET/CT and nuclear medicine functions within a modular building system.

The modular structure, specialist radiation shielding, technical services and clinical layout had to be developed as one integrated solution. Dedicated examination, control, technical, injection and counting spaces were incorporated alongside patient waiting and supporting administrative areas.

AMBS designed and engineered a bespoke modular solution around the operational and technical requirements of the PET/CT facility. The building was manufactured onsite and incorporated specialist radiation shielded wall construction within the required clinical areas.

Structural and architectural design was coordinated with electrical distribution, HVAC, data, fire detection and other building services to ensure the specialist requirements could be fully integrated within the modular building system.

AMBS managed the project through manufacture, transportation, and site installation, including the associated civil works, electrical and HVAC services, specialist installations, and final commissioning.

The completed facility brought together modular construction and specialist healthcare infrastructure within a single coordinated project, demonstrating the flexibility of modular construction for technically demanding medical environments.
