Remote Mining Accommodation Camp DRC

Remote Mining Accommodation Camp DRC

84 factory completed modular units manufactured in South Africa and delivered as complete buildings for a remote mining accommodation development in the DRC.

Project Overview

AMBS delivered 84 factory completed modular units for a remote mining accommodation development in the Democratic Republic of Congo, comprising 72 single sleeper accommodation units with private en-suite bathrooms and 12 standalone ablution units. Each building was designed and engineered to the project requirements, then manufactured, assembled, fully fitted out and commissioned at the AMBS manufacturing facility in South Africa prior to dispatch. The completed units were transported to the DRC as finished buildings, ready for positioning and connection to the project's external services. This factory completed delivery model minimised the construction and fit-out required at the remote project location while maintaining greater control over quality, completion and readiness before dispatch.

The Requirement

The project required 84 self-contained accommodation and ablution buildings capable of being deployed to a remote mining operation in the DRC with minimal construction and fit-out required at site.

‍

The accommodation units needed to arrive as completed buildings incorporating internal finishes, electrical and plumbing installations, sanitaryware, air-conditioning and hot-water systems. Each single-sleeper unit incorporated a private en-suite bathroom with WC, basin and shower.

The AMBS Solution

AMBS developed a factory-completed modular solution, with the buildings manufactured, assembled, fitted out and commissioned within its South African manufacturing facility prior to dispatch.

‍

The project comprised 72 single-sleeper accommodation units with private en-suite bathrooms and 12 standalone ablution units. The buildings incorporated the required internal finishes, electrical and plumbing installations, sanitaryware, lighting, air-conditioning and hot-water systems.

Completing the buildings within a controlled factory environment allowed AMBS to maintain greater control over manufacturing quality and minimise the work required at the remote project location.

The Delivery

Following factory completion and commissioning, all 84 modular buildings were transported as complete units from South Africa to the DRC, ready for positioning and connection to the project's external services.

‍

This delivery model demonstrates AMBS's capability to design, engineer, manufacture, fit out and commission complete modular buildings in South Africa before transporting them across borders for deployment at remote project locations.
