Contractors Accommodation Camp South Africa

AMBS designed, manufactured and installed a complete modular contractors accommodation camp for a mining operation in South Africa. The development incorporated multiple accommodation configurations for skilled, semi-skilled and executive personnel, together with the supporting facilities required for an operational workforce camp. The camp included ablution facilities, an 80-person kitchen and dining facility, laundry, chef’s quarters, change house, boardroom, first-aid facilities, recreation room and gymnasium. The modular buildings were manufactured and assembled at the AMBS facility before delivery to site. Following positioning of the modules, AMBS completed the on-site joining and finishing works, veranda installation and connection of the buildings to the client's electrical, water and sewer infrastructure.

The project required a complete accommodation and support environment for contractor personnel operating at a South African mining site.

Rather than providing accommodation buildings in isolation, the development required a combination of skilled, semi-skilled and executive accommodation together with the communal and operational facilities necessary to support the camp's day-to-day operation.

AMBS developed a complete modular camp solution incorporating different accommodation configurations for the project's workforce requirements, together with the supporting communal and operational facilities required for the development.

The buildings were designed, engineered and manufactured by AMBS, with a significant portion of the construction, services and fit out completed within our controlled factory environment prior to delivery. The accommodation comprised skilled four-bedroom units, semi-skilled ten bedroom units and executive single room units, supported by dedicated ablution buildings and communal facilities.

Following factory assembly, the completed modular units were transported to site and positioned in accordance with the camp layout.

AMBS completed the on-site joining and finishing works, installed the external verandas and connected the buildings to the client's electrical, water and sewer infrastructure. This factory-to-site delivery approach allowed the majority of building construction and fit out to be completed off-site, reducing the extent of construction activity required at the operational mining site.
